Minju Michelle Lee
OH HEY!
I’m Minju (they/them), a Korean-American performer and songwriter based in New York City. Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, I grew up surrounded by big skies, movement, and a lot of imagination—which still very much fuels my work. Most recently, I wrapped up the North American premiere of 42 BALLOONS, a new musical by Jack Godfrey at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where I played The Kid/Ensemble under the direction of Ellie Coote. I’m a BFA Musical Theatre graduate from Penn State University, where I spent four years making theatre, music, and the best kind of chaos—often centering new work and collaboration. Since moving to the city, I’ve loved diving deeper into the development of new musicals and working alongside artists who are curious, bold, and unafraid to experiment. I’m also a singer-songwriter who loves collaborating with other performers to create music that feels honest, playful, and deeply human. I write because it helps me make sense of big feelings, fleeting moments, and the quiet things we don’t always say out loud—and because there’s nothing better than telling a story through sound with people you trust. Fun facts: I grew up in a huge sports family (basketball was my main character arc—I was fully living my Troy Bolton fantasy), and I’m a devoted Golden State Warriors and LA Dodgers fan, even while living in New York. I contain multitudes... Do what excites :)

The North American premiere of 42 Balloons, a thrilling new musical by Jack Godfrey, at Chicago Shakespeare Theater! I had the joy of playing The Kid and in the ensemble in this high-flying production, directed by the brilliant Ellie Coote.
